National Energy Policy
The National Energy Policy calls for greater energy efficiency, a modernized energy infrastructure, and an increase in energy supplies. The new National Energy Policy, issued by the Bush Administration, is a long-term, comprehensive strategy that will advance new, environmentally friendly technologies to increase energy supplies and encourage cleaner, more efficient energy use.

“America must have an energy policy that plans for the future, but meets the needs of today. I believe we can develop our natural resources and protect our environment.”
— President George W. Bush

The National Energy Policy asks industries for further improvements in the productive and efficient use of energy. The National Energy Policy recommends federal agencies take actions to conserve energy use in their facilities, and increase funding and individual budgets for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development programs. The National Energy Policy asks for an increase in U.S. energy supplies emphasizing that research in clean coal technologies may increase the use of coal as a source for new power plants.
