Growing Demand
Demand for electricity has grown dramatically over the last two decades, and as our society become even more technologically driven, the need for electricity will continue to grow.

  • The amount of electricity generated from coal in the U.S. increased 64 percent between 1980 and 2001 and is projected to be 45 percent higher in 2025 than in 2001.

As America's demand for affordable and reliable electricity continues to grow, so will the need for coal, a domestically abundant fuel resource, to provide this essential power.
