Renewable
Energy
Renewable
energy is any source of energy such as wind, solar, biomass, and
geothermal power that can be reused. The Coalition for Affordable
and Reliable Energy (CARE) believes that while renewable energy
is part of a balanced energy policy, we must support clean coal
technology to keep energy affordable, reliable and increasingly
clean.
Types
of Renewable Energy
Bioenergy
- renewable energy which uses renewable biomass resources to produce
a variety of energy related products.
Geothermal
- renewable energy which uses the heat of the earth for direct-use
applications, geothermal heat pumps, and electrical power production.
Hydrogen
- renewable energy which uses the simple element of hydrogen to
burn and convert to electricity.
Hydropower
- renewable energy which uses flowing water to create energy that
can be captured and turned into electricity. Hydropower is currently
the largest source of renewable energy and power, generating nearly
10% of the electricity used in the United States.
Ocean
- renewable energy which uses the energy of ocean waves, tides,
or the thermal energy (heat) stored in the ocean.
Solar
- renewable energy which uses the sun's energy and light to provide
heat, light, hot water, and electricity.
Wind
- renewable energy which uses the energy in the wind to generate
electricity, charge batteries, or pump water.
