Georgia has the 26th highest retail electricity prices
in the nation. The 2000 state average rate of $62.40/MWh was 7 percent
less then the national average retail rate. Georgia rates reflect a
blend of their competitive coal units offset by their significant nuclear
investment costs ($6.4 billion). Roughly 65 percent of in-state utility
generation comes from coal-fired stations.
