Missouri
 |
 |
| Missouri has the 23rd lowest retail electricity prices
in the nation. The 2000 state average rate of $60.50/MWh was 10 percent
below the national average retail rate. Being a Midwestern rural state,
Missouri has relatively high distribution costs and low cost coal generation.
In 2000, 82 percent of in-state utility generation was from coal-fired
stations. Missouri also has a high nuclear investment ($3.8 billion)
that pushes rates higher. |
