Nebraska
 |
 |
| Nebraska has the 10th lowest retail electricity prices
in the nation. The 2000 state average rate of $52.70/MWh was 22 percent
below the national average retail rate. Nebraska power rates are very
low because of its low cost coal (63 percent), hydroelectric generation
(5 percent) and modest nuclear investment ($0.8 billion) to supply 30
percent of in state generation. Its low cost structure has made Nebraska
a net power exporter. |
