New Hampshire
 |
 |
| New Hampshire has the 2nd highest retail electricity prices
in the nation. The 2000 state average rate of $116.00/MWh was 73 percent
above the national average retail rate. New Hampshire rates are high
because of their nuclear investment ($0.8 million), high delivered fuel
cost, and heavy dependence on high cost oil units to meet customer demand.
Only 27 percent of in-state utility generation comes from lower cost
coal-fired units. |
